CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE -TRINITY CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

“Christmas is coming, Scrooge is hurrying home to meet visitors he didn’t expect. The wise men are slowly making their way to Bethlehem. In the tavern, the inn is filling up and there is only room in the stables. Christmas is coming! What a better way to celebrate other than the Trinity Catholic High School Christmas Carol Service. This will take place on Wednesday 20th December in the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Hall ( Lower Site) at 7:00pm. It will be a true festival of a wide variety of music, all of it most pleasing to the ear. Do come along and join us as we make our journey to Bethlehem. As we do, I thank Mrs Kelly Greene and all those working so hard to make this a memorable occasion.

THE SVP ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS WILLING TO HELP CHILDREN PUT THEIR FAITH IN ACTION. Could this be you? The St Vincent de Paul Society have primary groups called Mini Vinnies, and volunteers would support teachers or youth leaders wishing to start a group in their school or parish. They will talk to children about how they can make a difference to those living in poverty and share resources to support the group. The role is flexible but does need people with some availability during school hours (at least 2 mornings or 2 afternoons per month) who are willing to travel within the diocese (all costs covered). If you are passionate about helping children discover how they can make a difference in their communities please email Sarah for more information on youngvincentians@svp.org.uk You do not have to have previous experience of working with children as all training will be given. Our next training day is on Tuesday 27th February, 2024.

The aim with the hampers is to provide the essential non-perishables for a Christmas dinner alongside some goodies such as chocolates and crackers.

Last year they provided food parcels to over 800 people during December, this year so far they have seen a 38% rise in demand for their service. It is estimated that 1,000 people could need to use the service during this December, numbers never seen before at the Foodbank. It is predicted that this is going to be a continuous increase, as they are already facing record breaking numbers every month.

The Foodbank is reaching out to the local community for any help they can give, so if you are able to support them, one way to do this over the next few weeks is to drop an item or two into our plastic collection boxes (in Father Adrian’s garage), we will then do the rest and deliver it to the Foodbank. CHURCH OPENING: Following a recent Fire Inspection we have been advised to close the church outside of service times. This is a temporary arrangement and we apologise for any inconvenience

MESSAGE FROM FR ADRIAN:

Thank you to everyone involved in the remembrance Service last Sunday.  All our uniformed groups undertook their duties with reverence and dignity and thank you also to everyone involved in the hall afterwards – the soup, tea/coffee and cakes were all much appreciated!  Thank you to everyone who came and prayed too.

Fr. Adrian

READERS WANTED: Julie Callander is putting together a volunteer Rota for people to read at the weekend Masses. If you are interested and can help Fr Adrian please email:  Julie.Callander@hotmail.com or phone: 07834088661

CONFIRMATIONS: Bishop Alan will be visiting our parish on 18 September 2024, so Confirmations will be that evening.  The Confirmation Programme will begin after Christmas in the New Year when details will be published in the newsletter.

YOUTH SUNDAY

There will be a second collection on 26th November for Youth Sunday.

REPOSITORY: Christmas cards are now available to purchase in the Repository. We operate a cash only policy at this present time.

Fr. Adrian has kindly agreed for the Xmas Repository stall to be set up in the hall for 12 noon on Sunday 3rd December, when the Grand Prize Draw with Xmas Hampers takes place.

We always welcome any help on Sundays to cover the Masses and at these events. Please see Steve and Teresa if you would be able to offer any help on a rota basis.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR OUR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUP: We will next be playing and singing at the 11am Mass on Sunday, 3rd December and beforehand we are holding a practice 7 to 8pm on Monday, 27th November in the choir loft. Our last Mass was really well attended and we thank you for this; however, the practice for that Mass was a lonely affair with only a few of us there. It would therefore be much less lonely if you could all make the practice as well as the Mass, so please make every effort to come along – thanks in anticipation! As always, if there are new singers or musicians in our Parish who may consider joining us, you would be made very welcome. Thank you.

CHRISTMAS HAMPERS: Join us for Coffee, Cake & Carols from

12:00 Noon on Sunday 3rd  December, 2023 in the Parish Hall for our annual Grand Prize Draw with Christmas Hampers.

Suggestions for Grand Prize Draw donations are:

We will keep you updated via the parish newsletter with the requested items needed to make sure again, this year our luxury hampers are as abundant and indulgent as the Christmas season deserves.

HELP SUPPORT THE EPPING FOREST FOODBANK THIS CHRISTMAS!

Every year as well as basic food parcels the Foodbank also provides Christmas hampers to help spread joy and happiness over Christmas, providing relief for individuals and families.

For inspiration, the Top 10 items they need are: Batter mix, tinned potatoes, tinned carrots & peas, stuffing and gravy, tinned custard, hot chocolate, savoury crackers, Christmas pudding, chocolates, mince pies.

Thank you everyone for your support.

IN CASES OF EMERGENCY: If there is no answer from the parish phone, then in cases of emergency please call one of the local parishes, either in Epping – Tel 01992 572516, or the St. Thomas of Canterbury Friary at Woodford Green – Tel: 020 8504 1688.
