If you don’t mind, kindly bring some spare cash to pop into a new collection box which arrived with the bear. Thanks in anticipation! God bless.

The trustees of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Multi Academy Trust are seeking governors to support the leadership of the schools they serve.

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Multi Academy Trust consists of three Catholic schools

  • St. Albans Catholic Academy in Harlow,
  • St Luke’s Catholic Academy in Harlow
  • St John Fisher Catholic Academy in Loughton

Active governance supports the Catholic community and Catholic education in a variety of ways, most importantly it can have a significant impact by raising the quality of educational provision in our schools, which in turn ensures our children have a rich and full life, growing as ambassadors our Catholic faith.

We are particularly seeking governors who can support the schools using their professional qualities, such as leadership and management, finance and HR.

Being a foundation governor in a Catholic school is very rewarding, and a great way to live out your faith and serve your local community. It is also an opportunity to learn new skills which can have a positive impact on your own learning and professional development.

If you are interested please email Clerk@ourladyoffatimatrust.essex.sch.uk to arrange a meeting, or visit our website https://www.ourladyoffatimatrust.essex.sch.uk/ for the governor application / nomination form.

PARISH NEWS : The Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society (BCCS)

In recognition of the 40th anniversary of BCCS this year, our Parish Choir and Contemporary Music Group have adopted a small bear, ‘Ed the Ted’, who’ll join us in the Choir loft for the whole of this year! In a little box, we will be collecting contributions from our musicians and singers during 2024 to support the great work of BCCS. Fr. Adrian has kindly agreed that we can have a separate collection box at the back of the Church from time to time so that parishioners may want to support our joint collecting for BCCS.

This box will appear every month or so and any donations, large or small, would be appreciated. BCCS is organising a number of events and promotions for this year, and this particular one is aimed at schools, parishes and other diocesan groups.

IGNATIAN EVENING: Father Adrian recently preached about not giving something up for Lent, but doing something positive, e.g. being grateful. In fact not just for Lent but for the rest of our lives.

Here is a chance to do something positive. We are holding Lenten retreats, as we did in Advent and continuing with the theme of Ignatian prayer. We will focus on the Examen and discernment and the sessions will be led again by John Fitzmaurice. If you want to do something different and at the same time develop your relationship with God, come along. You can interact with the group as much or as little as you like, the main objective is for you to pray with God.

The sessions will be in the upstairs retreat room in the hall on March 11 and March 20th and will start at 7pm for 1 hour.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

John is a certified business coach and NLP practitioner, and is proficient at leading group sessions. He has undertaken courses with the Ignatian Spirituality centre on Ignatian prayer techniques, as well as leading online Lenten retreats.

CALLING ALL EX-ST EDWARD’S PUPILS FROM UPTON PARK: On 5th February 1973, Bobby Moore, Captain of England and West Ham United, had this photograph taken with 99 pupils of St Edward’s Roman Catholic Primary School. The photograph was a memento of the incredible achievement by Bobby Moore in playing 100 games for England. This iconic image was taken in the playground of St Edward’s, just yards from West Ham’s stadium and shows Bobby Moore and the children, arms folded, each of them wearing an England cap.

If you were one of the children in the photograph on that historic day, 51 years ago, we would love to hear from you, as we would be delighted to find out about your memories from that wonderful day.

CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FOR OUR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUP Many thanks to all our singers and musicians for your support and commitment  during 2023 and wishing you and your families a very happy and peaceful Christmas. We will next be playing and singing at the 11am Mass on Sunday, 7th January which is the feast of the Epiphany, so let’s all be there to make it a joyful celebration as our first Mass of the new year! Thanks again and God Bless!

MESSAGE FROM FR ADRIAN:

“God hides Himself in the littleness of a Child being born”  – Pope Francis

In his prepared remarks, the Holy Father recalled that Jesus’ birth reveals God’s preferred style, “which is neither grandiose nor noisy, but rather a style characterised by hiddenness and littleness.”  “These characteristics,” he said, “convey to us the gentle trait of God, who does not come to us to terrify us with His greatness or to impose himself with his magnificence, but makes himself present in the most ordinary way, becoming one of us.”  Pope Francis noted that Jesus was born in a simple stable in Bethlehem, as a sign of God’s desire to be close to all.

On behalf of Father Christopher Clohessy, who is spending Christmas with us, Deacon Frank and myself, we wish you and your families a very Happy and Holy Christmas.

God bless

Father Adrian

CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE -TRINITY CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

“Christmas is coming, Scrooge is hurrying home to meet visitors he didn’t expect. The wise men are slowly making their way to Bethlehem. In the tavern, the inn is filling up and there is only room in the stables. Christmas is coming! What a better way to celebrate other than the Trinity Catholic High School Christmas Carol Service. This will take place on Wednesday 20th December in the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Hall ( Lower Site) at 7:00pm. It will be a true festival of a wide variety of music, all of it most pleasing to the ear. Do come along and join us as we make our journey to Bethlehem. As we do, I thank Mrs Kelly Greene and all those working so hard to make this a memorable occasion.

The role is flexible but does need people with some availability during school hours (at least 2 mornings or 2 afternoons per month) who are willing to travel within the diocese (all costs covered). If you are passionate about helping children discover how they can make a difference in their communities please email Sarah for more information on youngvincentians@svp.org.uk You do not have to have previous experience of working with children as all training will be given.
