WEEKDAY MASS TIMES
Mass times this week are: Monday at 9:30am,Tuesday 9:30am, Wednesday 9:00am, Thursday 9:30am, Friday 9:30am. Stations of the Cross at 12:15pm on Friday.
LENT NEWS
Stations of the Cross this week is on Friday at 12:15pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, but if you are working from home or in town, why not make a special effort to attend and walk with Our Lord on his way to Calvary. This beautiful devotion grew out of imitations of the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem, which is a traditional processional route symbolising the path Jesus walked to Mount Calvary. The objective of the stations is to help the Christian faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage contemplating the Passion of Christ.
On Sunday,16th March, at 3pm we pray the Divine Mercy prayer in Church. The primary focus of the Divine Mercy devotion is the merciful love of God and the desire to let that love and mercy flow through one’s own heart towards those in need of it. The prayer is simple but powerful and an important reminder of how much we rely on God’s mercy in our troubled world today. Confessions will also be available at this time.
LIFE TALK
Thank you to all who attended the first Lent event – the talk by Katherine Hampton, from the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child. Thank you, also, to everyone who made the evening a success.
Katherine was a mine of information and inspiration on this bill which is contrary to the teaching of Scripture and the Church. A key factor from Katherine’s talk is that we can still do something positive to stop the bill from being passed. Please see some key information below:
1. Only 28 MPs need to change their mind and vote against the bill for it to be defeated.
2. Please consider keeping in touch with your MP to thank them for opposing the bill if they did so, or to encourage them to change mind if they supported it before.
3. MPs respond well to handwritten letters.
If you are writing to your MP, you may wish to quote Cardinal Vincent Nichols wise judgement in your letter to the MP, “If this is approved by law, a key protection of human life falls away…and risks bringing about for all medical professionals a slow change from duty of care to duty of death.”
