AI-generated content may be incorrect.Dear Parent, I hope your child has thoroughly enjoyed their time in one of our sections—Cubs, Beavers, Scouts, or Explorers—within the 7th Epping Forest group this year. Our thanks to every volunteer, leader, and assistant leader for their time and dedication. They are truly awesome.

After 22 years of service in Scouting, including 5 years as Group Lead Volunteer (previously known as Group Scout Leader, GSL), James Gellar will be stepping down from this role.

As such, we are now seeking nominations for the position of Group Lead Volunteer (GLV) for our local Scouting group. This is a pivotal role that ensures the smooth operation and continued success of all our Scouting sections.

The contributions of a Group Lead Volunteer are invaluable. They provide guidance, support, and leadership to our dedicated team of section leaders and volunteers. Importantly, you do not need prior involvement in Scouting to take on this role. It’s about uniting the community, supporting our sections, and ensuring our Scouts have the best possible experience.

Benefits of Being a Group Lead Volunteer:

  • Personal Growth: Enhance your leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Community Impact: Make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
  • Networking: Connect with other passionate volunteers and community leaders.
  • Fulfilment: Experience the joy of helping young Scouts grow and thrive.
  • Recognition: Be celebrated for your dedication and contributions to Scouting.

Volunteering with our Scouting group—whether as a Group Lead Volunteer or in any other capacity—is incredibly valuable. It is through the commitment of volunteers that we can offer enriching experiences to our young members. Every bit of help is needed and deeply appreciated. By volunteering, you not only support the development of our Scouts but also enrich your own life through the joy of giving back.

We encourage you to consider nominating yourself or someone you know for this rewarding role. Your involvement can make a significant difference to the lives of our scouts. Please submit nominations by 18th July to the7theppingforest@outlook.com.

Save the Date: Evening of 20th September 2025

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours in Scouting,

Ian Kendal
Chair of Trustees
