NOTE FOR OUR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUP:

We will next be singing and playing at the 11am Mass on Sunday,3^rd March, which is the 3^rd Sunday of Lent.

We’ll be having a practice for this Mass from 7pm to 8pm on Monday, 26^th February.

The turnout for our January practice was very good, so hopefully you’ll all be there on the 26^th February as well as coming to the Mass itself – Lent has started, so this could be one of your Lenten resolutions! Thanks very much.

As always, new singers and/or musicians in the Parish would be most welcome to join us –

simply come along.

BAPTISMS: If there are parents wishing to have their children baptised at St. Edmund’s please could you kindly contact your parish priest Fr Adrian Lowe as soon as possible. For first time parents there is a Baptismal Programme run by Mrs Sharon Chalk. Baptisms take place on Saturdays at 12.30pm

THE BRENTWOOD CATHOLIC CHILDREN’S SOCIETY (BCCS):

In recognition of the 40th anniversary of BCCS this year, our Parish Choir and Contemporary Music Group have adopted a small bear, ‘Ed the Ted’, who’ll join us in the Choir loft for the whole of this year! In a little box, we will be collecting contributions from our musicians and singers during 2024 to support the great work of BCCS.

Fr. Adrian has kindly agreed that we can have a separate collection box at the back of the Church from time to time so that parishioners may want to support our joint collecting for BCCS.

This box will appear every month or so and any donations, large or small, would be appreciated.

BCCS is organising a number of events and promotions for this year, and this particular one is aimed at schools, parishes and other diocesan groups.

Every now and then, we’ll keep you posted as to how we’re doing! Thanks very much.

CHURCH CLEAN:

The monthly Group Church Clean will take place this Thursday 22 February at 10am, after the 9.30am mass. Please come and join us, all help greatly appreciated.

CONFIRMATION RECOLLECTION DAY:

Thank you for agreeing to come to the day of Recollection at Aylesford Priory. The details are:

Saturday 24 February – meet at St. Edmunds Church at 7:30am for coach departure.

Leave Aylesford Priory at 3pm to return to Loughton.

The journey is about an hour.

Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and water for the day as there are not facilities to buy food at the priory.

The emphasis of the day is discovering the image of God in each other and meeting Christ in each other as we begin our journey towards Confirmation, if you feel that it is the right time for you to be confirmed in September. There will be some team building exercises, free time, Mass a talk and some free time for personal prayer and conversation as we begin to get to know each other as a group.

LOURDES COLLECTION:

This Sunday the second collection is for the Diocesan Lourdes Fund. Thank you for taking this collection. In recent years, this fund has enabled us to subsidize nurses, doctors, and helpers so that we have the team we need to support all our pilgrims, especially our assisted pilgrims. The Fund also allows us to fund pilgrims, who otherwise would not be able to join the pilgrimage. Important Message for Confirmation Candidates

Our first Confirmation session will be a day of recollection at Aylesford Priory on Saturday 24 February. We will travel by coach at 8am from the church car park and expect to return around 5pm.
